What it does
- Shows estimated shipping rates in the cart — shoppers see shipping costs before
they reach checkout.
- Destination selection (Country → Province/State) — shoppers choose where they’re
shipping to. If a country requires a province/state, the widget will prompt for it.
- Postal/ZIP input for accuracy — shoppers can enter a Postal/ZIP code to get the
most reliable estimate for their destination.
- Countries shown match your store’s shipping destinations — the country picker only
shows destinations your Shopify shipping setup supports, so customers don’t try unsupported
locations.
- Optional Geo-IP auto-detection — if enabled, the app can try to pre-fill an
estimate based on a shopper’s approximate location, and falls back to manual selection/entry when
needed.
- Widget readability settings — merchants can choose a size that fits their
cart/drawer layout: X-Compact, Compact, Default,
or Large.
- Works with most themes out of the box; lightweight and fast.
- Privacy-safe and clean to uninstall.
Benefits
- Fewer surprises → fewer abandoned carts.
- Clear shipping costs earlier in the journey.
- Builds shopper trust before checkout.
- No developer time — install and go.
Setup & Theme App Embed
- After install and starting your 14-day free trial, open Apps → FP1 – Cart
Shipping Calculator and review the Settings:
choose a Readability size (X-Compact → Large), and optionally enable
Geo-IP.
- Go to Online Store → Themes, then click Edit theme on your current
theme.
- Under App embeds, turn on Cart Shipping Widget (under
FP1 – Cart Shipping Calculator) and save.
- Open your storefront cart and confirm the widget appears (add a test item first). Select a
destination
country (and province/state if prompted), then enter a
Postal/ZIP code and click Update.
Geo-IP auto-detection is optional. If enabled, the widget may show an estimate automatically, but
shoppers can always change the destination and enter a Postal/ZIP code manually.
If the embed is turned off later, the app remains installed but won’t appear until re-enabled in the
theme editor.
Troubleshooting
- Ensure at least one item is added to the cart before testing. The app only activates when a cart
exists.
- Confirm the embed is turned on in the Theme Editor.
- Refresh your cart page after saving theme changes, or test in a new incognito
window.
- Verify at least one active shipping zone/rate in Settings → Shipping and Delivery.
- A country is missing from the picker? That usually means your store doesn’t ship
there. Add the destination to your shipping zones, then test again.
- Fast check: enter the same destination at checkout. If checkout also shows no
shipping options, then the store has no rates for that destination (the app is
working as expected).
- Learn more: Extend your theme with apps (Shopify Help).
Frequently Asked Questions
Does FP1 – Cart Shipping Calculator work with my theme?
Yes. It’s designed to work automatically with most Shopify 2.0 themes without requiring edits.
Do I need to add any code or make theme changes?
No. The app installs as a Theme App Extension. After you enable it under App embeds
in your theme, it appears in the cart without any code edits or Liquid changes.
Which countries appear in the country picker?
The picker is limited to destinations supported by your store’s Shopify shipping setup. If a country
doesn’t appear, it usually means you don’t ship there (or it isn’t included in your shipping zones).
Why does it ask for a province/state sometimes?
Some countries require a province/state to accurately determine which shipping rates apply. If
needed, the widget will prompt the shopper to select one.
Can shoppers enter their own Postal/ZIP code?
Yes. Shoppers can always enter a Postal/ZIP code manually. This is the most reliable way to show
accurate estimated rates before checkout.
What is Geo-IP auto-detection?
Geo-IP is an optional setting. If enabled, the widget tries to estimate a shopper’s country/region
from their IP address to speed up the first estimate. If it can’t, or if the estimate isn’t usable,
shoppers can select their destination and enter a Postal/ZIP code manually.
Can I adjust the widget text size?
Yes. In the app’s Settings, you can choose a Readability size (X-Compact, Compact, Default, Large) to
fit your cart page and drawer layout.
Does it support international destinations?
Yes, as long as your Shopify shipping setup supports those destinations. For best results, shoppers
should select the correct destination and enter their Postal/ZIP code.
Does it slow down my cart?
No. It’s lightweight and designed to keep the cart fast and responsive while displaying estimated
rates.
Is any customer data stored?
No. The app does not store customer addresses. Destination details are used only to retrieve an
estimate, and final totals are confirmed at checkout.
How does billing work?
The app includes a 14-day free trial managed by Shopify Billing. You’ll be asked to
approve billing to unlock the widget in your store. Charges begin after the trial unless the app is
uninstalled before that date.
Who develops FP1 – Cart Shipping Calculator?
